Growing Peyton- 9 months

On July 6th Peyton turned 9 months old! And what a busy month she has had! Here are her stats from her nine month doctor visit-

7/09/12 (9 months old)
Weight- 18lbs 12oz
Height- 26in
Head- 17in

She is still growing and developing right on track and the Dr commented on what a laid back and easy going baby she is; and she really is. She is growing into her role of being the baby of the family as she loves to have all attention on her (or maybe thats just her being a girl, ha!). She especially loves attention from her big brother and we often hear them giggling together in the back seat or find her laughing at him as he runs circles around her in the family room.

At the end of June (right around the 8 1/2 month mark) Peyton finally started making some forward progress while crawling. I think a hugely helpful factor was the carpeted hotel at Disney World where she really started to figure it out. Now she is on the move, crawling all over the house, going after Owens toys and really loving her new found mobility. She crawls well on her hands and knees but we would often see her pushing up on all fours using her hands and feet so we knew it wouldn't be long before she figured out she could stand up. And sure enough, the day after she turned 9 months old I walked into her room to find this-

We are still dealing with some separation issues, but she did make some progress with Grandma Bonnie, Grandpa Steve and Aunty Laurie while they were here visiting. She let them all hold her and play and I was even able to leave the room without her fussing. I think it had to do a lot with the fact that she was in her own environment and that we had just spent time with them a few weeks earlier. Baby steps...but we're getting there.

Peyton started trying to do the sign for "more" when she is eating and we are still working on a few others that she hasn't quite mastered yet. Grandma Bonnie taught her to clap and she loves to sing Patty-Cake and clap along. She also tries to put her hands up above her head when you say "So Big!"

In the past 4 weeks Peyton has had many firsts- she tried (and loved) feeding herself puffs, she had her first trip to Disney World, she celebrated her brother's 5th birthday and her first 4th of July, and she saw her first and second fireworks shows (and didn't cry at all)! It certainly was a big month for this little lady!

Peyton & Ellie at 9 months-

Its hard to get this one to sit still these days!
