A Week with George

Owen's preschool class started a project last month with a stuffed puppy named George. Over the course of 3 months each child will get to bring George home with them for a week and journal about their time together. The kids have been so excited about George, and Owen has been waiting with anticipation for his name to be picked to bring George home.

Last week when I picked Owen up he came running out the gate with a huge smile yelling "Mama I've got George! I've got George!" He was so excited we had to walk over to Robert's office so that he could share in the news of George's visit (thank goodness for Robert choosing an office only a block away from the school!)

When we got home we looked through George's Journal to see what he had done with some of the other kids in class. Owen immediately started brainstorming ideas and he knew that we needed to take George into DC, he needed to build with legos, and he needed to play Trouble. We got to work right away-
George rode safely in the car when we went into the city
They climbed the stairs of the Jefferson Memorial
We checked out the Cherry Blossoms at the Tidal Basin

George built with Legos

And joined us in family game night

Owen & George were great buddies for the week, and I was a little nervous about George having to return to school to go home with another friend, but Owen reassured George that it would be ok and he would have fun with everyone else too.

Tricky Leprechauns

On St Patrick's Day we had a visit from some leprechauns who played a few tricks at our house!

They used our facilities...

And jumped on our couch...

Then turned our kitchen chairs upside down before leaving a trail of marshmallow Lucky Charms and a few goodies for Owen. Those tricky Leprechauns!

Pizza Pizza!

This week we made our first attempt at homemade pizza! It was a blast, and Owen loved helping every step of the way.
Rolling out the dough. Owen wanted it to be shaped like a boat
Sauce time (we haven't tried homemade sauce quite yet)
 Time for some cheese

 And pepperoni

Baby P getting in on the action
Our delicious final product- 5 cheese pizza w/pepperoni & sauteed mushrooms & red pepper

Growing Peyton- 5 months

On March 6th Peyton turned 5 months old! We have no doctors appointment this month so there are no stat updates, but she sure has grown a lot these past 4 weeks.

Peyton loves to be upright now, either propped up or sitting in her bumbo seat and loves to be a part of the action. She can sit on her own on the floor for about 3 seconds before toppling over but is getting stronger everyday. She still thinks her brother is the greatest thing ever and loves for him to entertain her. She will laugh and laugh at him and the more she laughs, the more he hams it up for her. She has been eating her hands like crazy and puts everything in her mouth. Recently, she figured out how to spit and blow raspberries and for a few days became obsessed with it. Instead of crying in her carseat when she was angry, she would just spit longer and harder. Thankfully she is starting to find other things that fascinate her too such as watching her hands and wiggling her feet and learning how they move. She watches us put food and drinks in our mouth and is getting very interested in what we are doing when we're eating. Just a few short weeks and she'll be trying her own first foods!

Peyton & Ellie at 5 months-

A few out takes from our photo shoot-
"Can I help you?"
"Wait, what is this?"
And here comes Owen...

 Kisses!

It Happened...

It finally happened. We knew this day would come eventually. While out shopping Peyton exploded her diaper, and guess who forgot to stock the diaper bag with spare clothes? Mommy Fail! Sooo, Peyton got to ride home in her carseat wearing my scarf as a toga!

You can see how affected she was by the whole ordeal. Me on the other hand...still recovering.

100 Day

March 1st Owen's class celebrated their 100th day of school! Owen chose gummy bears to count out and take and he decided to line them up in colored rows of 10 to help count them out.
