A Week with George

Owen's preschool class started a project last month with a stuffed puppy named George. Over the course of 3 months each child will get to bring George home with them for a week and journal about their time together. The kids have been so excited about George, and Owen has been waiting with anticipation for his name to be picked to bring George home.

Last week when I picked Owen up he came running out the gate with a huge smile yelling "Mama I've got George! I've got George!" He was so excited we had to walk over to Robert's office so that he could share in the news of George's visit (thank goodness for Robert choosing an office only a block away from the school!)

When we got home we looked through George's Journal to see what he had done with some of the other kids in class. Owen immediately started brainstorming ideas and he knew that we needed to take George into DC, he needed to build with legos, and he needed to play Trouble. We got to work right away-
George rode safely in the car when we went into the city
They climbed the stairs of the Jefferson Memorial
We checked out the Cherry Blossoms at the Tidal Basin

And joined us in family game night

Owen & George were great buddies for the week, and I was a little nervous about George having to return to school to go home with another friend, but Owen reassured George that it would be ok and he would have fun with everyone else too.
