The first weekend in June we had a trip planned to IL for Cody's graduation from Kaneland High School. We decided to make the most of the trip in and spend a day downtown Chicago exploring some of the city. After our plane landed at O'Hare a wonderful and kind taxi driver picked us up at the airport and drove us in morning rush hour traffic to Navy Pier. He also graciously agreed to keep our luggage in the trunk of his car until our train dropped us off in Elburn later that day...and for no extra charge! What a great man! (Thanks Grandpa Bill ;) )
So we started our adventure off at Navy Pier. There are so many fun things to see and do here we probably could have spent all of our time just in this one spot. We started off with a ride on the ferris wheel-

Right about here I stared having those irrational pregnant woman fears, but plastered on a smile for my 3yr old :)

Safely back on land we stopped to say "Aargh" with some pirates

But then it started to get really hot, so we set off in search of a cool place to spend some of the afternoon...

And found an awesome Children's Museum to explore right there on Navy Pier!
The first room we visited was all about fighting fires

Owen and daddy try to put out the flames
Next we found the highlight of the museum trip- a Dinosaur Expedition!
Owen and daddy dig for fossils

Owen dressed the part as a paleontologist

Another room we loved was the water play room where you get so wet you have to wear a raincoat!

There were so many cool things to do and see in the Children's Museum and we can't wait to go back! But when it was time to leave, the fun was not over. We headed over to take some pictures with the bean before getting on our train to the country...
Phew! What a day! We had so much fun and made so many cool memories! Can't wait to explore the city some more next time!
