Tumbling-Round 2

Saturday mornings this summer were spent at tumbling class with Owen. Back before he was two we did a family class where parent participation was required, and Robert and I would take turns playing in class with him. This year however, he got to be in the "Tumbling for Threes" class where parents go up to the balcony to observe. His first class he was apprehensive, and so were we; the class warmed up with another class in which there was parent involvement. We all found this to be very confusing for the kiddos without their parents there, but after his second time going he was a pro and would wave to us from whatever obstacle he was conquering.

Owen quickly found a friend and eagerly looked for her every week during warm-ups ...
Owen loved the trampoline
And swinging on the bars
And especially running up to and jumping in "the pit"
Getting him involved in some of the warm-ups and stations took a little coaxing, but he knew what to do once he decided he was ready to participate
The last day of the 10-week session they had a little award ceremony and invited the parents to take pictures while the children each received an award. He was shy on the podium, but was eager to share his ribbon with us once all eyes were on the other children.
I think we're done with tumbling now, unless Owen decides to pursue gymnastics which would be fun. This fall we are on to tee-ball and hopefully soccer in the spring! Bring on the sports, this kids got energy to burn!
