August 6th Peyton turned 10 months old! She has officially been in this world longer then she was in my tummy. Its amazing to see how much this little one has changed and learned in the short 10 months that she has been with us.
In the 4 weeks since the last update Peyton has really been on the move. She crawls all over the place, pulls up on furniture and has started "cruising"the furniture by holding on and moving along the couch or toy box. I also regularly find her standing up in her crib after her naps and in the morning.
Her preferred way of crawling these days on her hands and feet with her butt in the air, and she gets around rather quickly this way. We call her "Mowgli" from the Jungle Book because when she crawls that way that is totally what it reminds me of. I think her crawling this way started because she was having a hard time crawling in her dresses, and she figured out if she pushed up onto her feet she would not get caught up in her dress. But now, dress or not, she does the "Mowgli" crawl all over the house.
She hasn't been doing much signing lately but she sure does a lot of babbling. She loves to crawl around the house saying "maa maa maa maa" or "da da da da" but she doesn't seem to be directing it at us all of the time. Occasionally after I leave Robert says she crawls around saying "Ma, ma, ma," so we'll see. She also says "ba, ba, ba" quite often, which we have determined to mean either brother, ball, bottle, bath or bed ;)
Peyton really loves the water and weather it is a warm bath, a swimming pool on a hot day or even a chilly fountain she loves to splash and play. She doesn't even mind getting water in her face or the occasional dunk under. I'm so thankful she like the water because we sure do love to go the pool or play at the various spray grounds around the city.
Also these past few weeks Peyton has really been expanding her food horizons as we continue to give her more and more items to try. She loves cantaloupe and honeydew melon cut up, as well as tortilla and cheese and pretty much anything she can put in her own mouth.
It has been a fun and busy summer for this little girl and I'm not quite sure what she is going to do next month when Brother goes to school all day. She sure does love having him around to play with!
