Oh no! Has it really been 2 months since I've posted a new blog? Where did the time go? Somehow I managed to miss both Halloween and Thanksgiving...so, let me recap-
For Halloween this year we were the Wizard of Oz family for a 2nd time. I had this adorably cute lion costume that Owen wore last year and it was too bit, so I knew it would fit him one last time and I simply could not resist the urge to go for it again. This year Owen wasn't crazy about wearing the "mane" on his head and neck, but he humored me through several pictures and loved walking up to people saying "roooooooarrr!" He thought it was especially funny that daddy was dressed up as a "Care-Crow" and that I had red shoes on. He seemed to enjoy carving pumpkins this year and certainly enjoyed talking about "THE GUTS" for weeks after, even though he wouldn't dare touch them with his hands! (I know, I've created a monster) Around Halloween Owen heard the word "creepy" and decided it was pretty fun to say. One night after dinner with friends we were walking through a parking garage where Robert told Owen that the vent above our heads on the ceiling was creeeeeeeepy. After getting in the car, we drove under the vent on the way out and Owen said "uh oh, creepy don't get my car!" How do you explain to a 2 yr old that creepy is a feeling, not a thing that can get him?
Four weeks later came Thanksgiving and while the events leading up to it were not as exciting as the events that lead up to Halloween, the holiday was still very exciting for Owen. This year, Grandma Bonnie, Grandpa Steve and Aunty Laurie came to our house for the festivities. Owen knew for awhile that they were coming, so for about 2 weeks whenever he was questioned about it Owen would tell people that his Grandparents were coming to his house on Friday...even though they came on a Tuesday :) While my family stayed here and enjoyed some time with Owen, Robert and I headed up to NYC for 2 nights to see the Big Apple. Before leaving I tried to prep Owen as best I could, telling him that we would be leaving on a big bus, showing him pictures of a bus in one of his books and telling him that he would stay here with Grandma, Grandpa and Aunty Laurie. He seemed fine with it, and to be honest, I'm not even sure he noticed we were gone. Robert and I certainly noticed though and on our way home were talking about how we couldn't wait to see Owen. After just 2 days he seemed to grow an inch and was even speaking more clearly. He learned a new word- "me-memeber?" and now asks us all the time if we me-member things that 1/2 the time we have no idea what he is talking about. He also became very thoughtful while we were gone and now thinks decisions over with a finger on his cheek in a very thoughtful manner while saying "hmmmmmm." He is such a funny kid! Its going to be fun to see what he comes home doing and saying after 10 days in IL for Christmas this year!
